Go well into the woods.

thank you for listening, and for playing your part

Take all of this lightly. It is a map drawn after the walk, not before it.

Almost none of the songs you heard tonight were written this way. They were found — by stepping blindly in the dark, by feeling for the next stone in the river, by playing something wrong and liking it. The theory came afterwards, the way footpaths appear where people already walked.

So be playful. Wander off. Play the chord that shouldn’t work and listen to what it does to you. If it moves you, it is right, and no one gets to tell you otherwise.

Go write songs.

Take the woods with you

Everything from tonight lives here — the graphs, the games, and a room to write your own.
